CHARLES HENRI DUCHARME August 13, 1928 - July 14, 2003 After a lengthy, courageous battle to come home, Charles Henri Ducharme passed away on Monday, July 14, 2003 at Seven Oaks Hospital. He is survived by his four children; Karen (Tim), Charles (Teri), Richard (Zofia) and Arthur (Jenn) and by their mother, Judy Mahase. He also leaves behind five beautiful granddaughters; (his babies), Arielle, Mikayla, Kaitlyn, Jaren and Madeline. His sisters; Juliette Bousquet (Armand), Marie Fedora, and Aurise Bousquet, along with numerous cousins, nephews and nieces will also mourn his passing. Charles was predeceased by his father Arthur in 1957, and by his mother Clarisse (nee Goulet) in 1958. Brothers-in-law; Henri Fedora and Maurice Bousquet also predeceased him. He was deeply affected by the passing of his twin brother, Raymond in 1988, and he has missed him terribly since then. We believe they are now together again. Dad was born in St. Pierre-Jolys, Manitoba on August 13, 1928. He grew up on the family farm, and went to school at St. Pierre College. He also developed a strong belief in God and the ministry, and would have entered the Catholic priesthood had he not been needed on the farm. He came to Winnipeg in 1950 as a young man of 22, and found employment as a tent and awning finisher at Manta Industries. Thats where he met Judy, and they married in 1966. He worked at Manta until his retirement in 1993. Dad enjoyed many things during his lifetime, especially going for walks, fiddle music, his home, Christmas parties, and the companionship of his cat, Buddy. He worked very hard his entire life, from his childhood on the farm; to adulthood in the city making sure his children had everything that they needed. This work ethic did not change when he entered the hospital in March. He had conquered an uphill struggle to return home, and was scheduled to be discharged May 30. Unfortunately, he suffered a broken hip one week prior to coming home, and sadly, developed complications from which he could not recover. His courage, strength, and determination during his ordeal were an inspiration, and these are the qualities he bestowed upon each of us, which will remain with us always. The family would like to express their sincere thanks to everyone involved in taking care of our Dad, especially Dr. O. Klassen, and the doctors and nurses at Seven Oaks Hospital. To the nurses in Units 4-8, 4-11, and 3-9, thank you for your care and compassion for our Dad during his stay. Prayers will be held at Immaculate Conception, 181 Austin; on Friday, July 18 at 8:00 p.m. Memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 19 at 10:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Voyage Funeral Home. Interment to follow at St. Boniface Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations my be made to charity of ones choice. Officiating Father Jose Eduareo Medeiros. Rest in Peace, Daddy, until we meet again. With love from your "Poopsie", "the Chief", "My Richie", and "Gazoo". Arrangements Entrusted to: VOYAGE FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORIUM 220 Hespeler at Henderson Hwy 668-3151
